Fans of Channel 4's new comedy series Derry Girls were recently shocked to learn that one of its baby-faced stars, Nicola Coughlan, who plays teenager Clare, is actually 31 in real life.
This week also marks the 20th anniversary of the debut of US teen drama series Dawson's Creek - a classic example of a series in which some of the actors were much older than their on-screen characters.
