10 things we learnt from Planet Earth last night

We're only two weeks in but we're already obsessed with Planet Earth II. In fact we've already forgotten how we spent our Sunday evenings before it started. So why was the Mountains episode so good? Here's why...

1. Flamingos have a bizarre mating ritual, it essentially involves doing a weird group dance for days on end. Think extreme line dancing...

2. A birds eye view takes on new meaning...

Forget setting up a tripod and hoping for the best, the camera work on Planet Earth II is far more involved. There were shots from the top of a golden eagle's head. No idea how they do it. People on Twitter have got some ideas though...

3. There are barely any snow leopards left in the world and they live incredibly solitary lives. So when they are on heat they have to make the most of it...

4. Even Flamingos style out an embarrassing stack.

5. There were bobcat woes when one just couldn't catch a break. Considering it was trying to kill other animals we didn't know whether to feel much sympathy. First it faceplanted into snow...

Then it completely mistimed it's leap...

Finally after going in for the kill and failing miserably, a bunch of ducks started laughing at it.

6. Everyone loved the ibex and hated the red fox trying to eat them. We were also a bit concerned about the steep edges they were hanging out on...

9. The animals and mountain shots were only half the reason people tuned in. The other half? It's all about The Attenborough...
