As the second round of qualifying kicks off for the 2016/17 FA Cup, clubs across the country will have their hearts set on glory... But where does it all lead in the end? We take a look back at some of the legends of the competition who have gone on to even greater glory off the pitch.

Gary Lineker – one FA Cup

Despite having never been booked or cautioned throughout his football career and having a glittering resume at Leicester, Barcelona and England, Gary Lineker will always be best remembered for his antics flogging crisps.

For over 20 years, Lineker has been tossed out of windows, buried in potatoes and even clashed heads with Messi as he’s promoted one of the nation's best-known potato snacks.

The 1991 FA Cup winner with Tottenham Hotspur said that despite his career at the top level of football, he’ll always be known best as “the crisp bloke”.

Cristiano Ronaldo – one FA Cup

2004 FA Cup winner, Cristiano Ronaldo had spent much of his time posing in designer brands as a model off the pitch.

And when asked what would be next for the three-time Ballon d’Or winner after his playing career, he opted away from coaching or a role in football in favour of building on his fashion house.

His luxury menswear line is best known for it's iconic images of Ronaldo in his eponymous underwear, but it also includes designer shoes and shirts.

Mathieu Flamini – three FA Cup's

Most footballers spend their enormous wealth on flashy cars and expensive mansions, but former Arsenal midfielder, Mathieu Flamini opted to pool his resources into the sustainability of planet earth.

Eight years ago, the three-time FA Cup winner co-founded a biochemicals company that the Frenchman believes will one day resolve the issue of climate change by engineering a substitute for fossil fuels.

The business venture has been given an estimated market potential of £20billion, meaning that Flamini could one day be in a position to buy and sell the football clubs he’s played for.

Any die hard Liverpool fan would know that Steven Gerrard’s preferred footwear of choice was the classic Adidas Predator, but few would know that it was an ex-Liverpool player who designed and created the legendary boot.

The Predator went on to become the best selling piece of football footwear and was worn by the likes of David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane and Rugby’s Jonny Wilkinson.

Eric Cantona and Vinnie Jones – three FA Cup's between them

It’s maybe by chance that two of the hardest men to have played in the FA Cup both entered the world of cinema.

With cult classics such as Jones’ ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’, and Cantona’s ‘Looking for Eric’, both footballer-turned-actors have impressed on the silver screen and since starred along the likes of Hugh Jackman and Cate Blanchett in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ and ‘Elizabeth’.

Vinnie Jones even picked up the Empire, Best British Actor award for his performance in ‘Snatch’, proving his ‘hard-man’ approach on the pitch translated well to the big screen.
