Could this be the last we see of Sherlock? The internet reacts...
The Sherlock finale was truly shocking, but now the whole world is panicking that it was the last episode EVER.
On social media, it was a bit like watching a break-up play out. There was denial, anger, bargaining, depression and - yep - even the occasional glimpse of acceptance...
A case in point, part one: Those 'in the know' don't even know
A star of the show basically put out a 'just in case it's over' message. Panic ensued:
A case in point, part two: Back from the dead
We've been bamboozled before when we thought Sherlock was dead, not to mention a certain dancing Irishman appearing...surely this too could be another mind game?
A case in point, part three: Call me
When someone's walking out of your life and you're clinging on in the hope that it's just a short-term blip and not over, over.
Call me, if you've got time that is, if not definitely email, or text or Whatsapp or like, let me follow you on Twitter...
A case in point, part four:Errr what?
People didn't know whether they should leave the sofa or just hang around in case it was all a joke.
We'll just wait for you here then...
A case in point, part five:Where can it go from here?
Is the only way down? If so, will they risk another series?
A case in point, part six:Threats took place
All caps AND a moody gif of John sipping a cup of tea? This one means business.
A case in point, part seven: We were cut deep
Think of the maths here. It took just half an hour for a whole year of scarring.
A case in point, part eight: There was begging
The key to success using this method? Be polite but firm.
A case in point, part nine: Absolute bafflement
And finally, when the emotions run too deep sometimes you need a physical pick-me-up to help make sense of it all.
So there you have it - the internet going through the five stages of grief (plus a few more) in the only way it knows how: gifs, hashtags and memes.
