Sure there's been some amazing football on show but have you ever seen this many people dance in unison?
So then there were four. We’re well and truly into the business end of the World Cup now, with only England, Sweden, Netherlands and defending champions USA remaining.
Meanwhile, the men are preparing to start their season anew with plenty of teams having returned for training.
So let’s take a look at what people have been saying over the last week.
1) Lionesses roar
Another summer, another World Cup semi-final for England after the Lionesses breezed past Norway with a 3-0 win.
The result not only qualifies Team GB for the Olympics next year but it also continues the upward trajectory of English football on the international stage.
But the task awaiting them in the next round couldn’t be more difficult, as no one knows the pressure of a World Cup semi-final like the United States.
2) Stay positive
Over in the Premier League, Manchester United are one of the sides who made an early move, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka joining from Crystal Palace for a reported £50m.
And fans are welcoming his arrival with the kind of optimism you simply love to see.
3) Orange crush
The Lionesses are not the only ones celebrating their place in the final four of the Women's World Cup, with Dutch fans clearly enjoying seeing their team make the semi-finals for the first time.
While everyone in England will no doubt be cheering on the Lionesses in their clash with the USA, there's one final the neutrals want to see.
4) Sing like you’re winning
As we head into the final stages of the tournament, it’s worth paying tribute to those who didn’t quite make it this far but still brought their own unique passion to the World Cup.
5) Extra credit
Meanwhile, the men’s season has already begun for some, with Cardiff Metropolitan University kicking off their European League campaign (yes, you read that right) against Luxembourgian giants Progres Niederkorn.
Though they suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg, the students will be optimistic about their chances of overturning that deficit at home on Thursday.
6) All a-loan
Fans of non-league football saw a familiar face arrive in the Love Island villa last week with the addition of Wealdstone forward Dennon Lewis.
It could be the signing of the summer.
7) Meanwhile, in Scotland...
You might have thought that the Scottish Challenge Cup reached peak Scottish football with the decision to admit teams from the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England.
You might have even thought it was peak when Irn-Bru became the lead sponsor of the tournament. But that was until the new sponsor was revealed...
8) Meanwhile, somehow not in Scotland...
Speaking of Scottish football, we hope you’re all aware of Partick Thistle’s nightmarish mascot Kingsley already.
Because if not, we apologise for introducing you to him.
Well, it appears that the off-season isn’t just for the players, with one lucky(?) fan spotting Kingsley all the way in Tunisia.
9) Goal of the week
We’re not sure which is more satisfying, watching this goal or the commentator seamlessly turning Orji Okwonkwo’s name to Okwonkwow.
10) Class is permanent
Whatever happened to the concept of the player-manager? Rangers could make worse signings this summer than to upgrade the role of their current boss.
11) Fantasy land
And finally, a new football season can only mean one thing: a new fantasy football team.
