Kasper Schmeichel is officially better than his dad

Elsewhere, Brighton are displaying the wrong type of consistency

Another week of football over, another week of people talking nonsense on the internet about it.

Here’s our pick of the best tweets from football fans over the last few days.

1) Hitting the spot

Manchester City missed yet another penalty at the weekend as Kasper Schmeichel saved Sergio Aguero’s effort from the spot, giving the Leicester ‘keeper the permanent penalty-related bragging rights over his father.

The penalty had City fans thinking about their own goalkeeper and whether or not he should be the one to solve their penalty-taking woes, with City missing all three of their penalties so far in 2020.

2) The wrong kind of consistency

They may not have played each other at the weekend but Crystal Palace still managed to get one over their rivals at Brighton by picking up their first win of the decade, leaving the Seagulls with a rather unwanted record.

3) No way, Jose

While Jose Mourinho has a habit of operating on a boom-bust cycle whenever he takes over a new club, it feels like the Portuguese manager could simply be heading straight for the bust at Spurs as fans continue to be frustrated by his lack of ambition on the pitch.

Of course, there’s still the chance that we’re going a little too early on all of this.

4) Meanwhile, in Zanzibar...

How are things going in the Zanzibari Premier League, we hear you ask. No doubt you were just as excited as we were to see how Mani Gamera’s Miembeni side got on against his old team Jang'ombe.

And ol’ Gamera did not disappoint as he picked up the win and then celebrated in style.

5) Game’s gone

As the game has become more and more commercialised over the years, we barely noticed as one of the truly great traditions of football disappeared right before our eyes...

6) Seeing red

Congratulations to Aberdeen’s Dean Campbell for collecting the most pointless and easily avoided red card in the history of football, as his team lost to Ross County and dropped down to fourth in the table.

7) Crank the Tunes

Football fans love a good chant but hats off to these Red Star Belgrade supporters who realised that sometimes you don’t even need words to let everyone know what you think of your rivals.

8) Top gunner

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on the scoresheet twice for Arsenal on Sunday as they overcame Everton to move up to ninth in the table.

The Gabon striker added to his already impressive Sunday record and now has his sights set on surpassing his greatest rival yet: Huddersfield Town.

With rumours that Aubameyang could leave the club in the summer, the Gunners are no doubt tracking some potential new signings who could really deliver a consistent style.

9) Value for money

Meanwhile in Europe, Atalanta have one foot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after thrashing Valencia 4-1.

Still, they’re yet to prove if they could do it on a wet Tuesday night in Stoke.

10) Norwegian heir

It’s Erling Braut Haaland’s world and we’re all just living in it at the moment.

The Norwegian teenager continued his incredible run of form as he scored a double against PSG before adding another in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 defeat of Werder Bremen at the weekend.

Looks like this post is no longer available from its original source. It might've been taken down or had its privacy settings changed.

11) The old firm

Can you really call yourself a fan if watching your team doesn’t make you feel like you’ve aged horribly over the course of 90 minutes?

Rangers dropped points for the fourth time in seven Scottish Premiership matches on Sunday, after drawing with St. Johnstone. That leaves them 12 points off leaders Celtic, after having been within two.
