Paul Pogba & Romelu Lukaku are football’s hottest bromance right now

Share this:

Now Romelu Lukaku has sealed £75m switch to Manchester United, one thing is becoming clear.

The Belgian striker has one hell of a bromance going on with new team-mate Paul Pogba.

Ok, so the two have spent their summers together before but Pogba, who himself is no stranger to big-money moves as the world’s most expensive player (for now at least), was absolutely loving it when Lukaku announced he’d be joining him at United.

Looks like this post is no longer available from its original source. It might've been taken down or had its privacy settings changed.

Like all great bromances, they’re already being asked: “How did you two first meet each other?”

And their bromance is so legit that they are already past the honeymoon period, and now bickering over little things, like who started the dab.

So as the two spend some more quality time together in LA, filming what seems to be their own structured-reality series we thought we’d take a look at some more of football’s top bromances.

Gary Neville & Paul Scholes

Two of Manchester United’s 'Class of 92' here showing that no matter how busy you may be on the pitch, there’s always room for a smooch.

Gary Neville goes all 'Gone With the Wind' with this most sensual of eyes-closed, take-me-in-your-arms kisses, after Scholes scored a 93rd-minute winner at rivals Man City in 2010.

Pure passion.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang & Marco Reus

Borussia Dortmund’s star men have struck up a wonderful relationship on the pitch in recent seasons, and chose to mark their partnership in style with a choreographed goal celebration.

During a 3-0 derby win over rivals Schalke in 2015, the two whipped out Batman and Robin masks to celebrate Aubameyang's opening goal and publicise their super-solid friendship. Ahhhh.

Fabien Barthez & Laurent Blanc

During France’s run to the World Cup final in 1998, defender Laurent Blanc and goalkeeper Fabien Barthez shared a bizarre pre-match ritual.

Blanc would grab Barthez in a loving embrace and plant a big smacker on the keeper’s shiny bald head before kick-off - the human embodiment of Sanka’s lucky egg from ‘Cool Runnings’.

Even after Blanc was harshly suspended for the final, he still made sure he could give Barthez their trademark kiss before kick-off, and it worked its magic as France beat Brazil 3-0 to win their first ever World Cup.

Mesut Ozil & Sergio Ramos

Before Mesut Ozil became Arsenal’s assist machine, he was tearing defences apart for Real Madrid, and became close pals with defender Sergio Ramos.

Nothing unusual about that, except once the German had sealed his switch to the Emirates, Ramos released this touching video in tribute - not to his team-mate - but to their bromance, branded 'Serzil', very much the prequel to Love Island 2017's 'Garcel'.

Jose Mourinho & Marco Materazzi

While manager at Inter Milan, Jose Mourinho struck up a bond with physical defender and Zinedine Zidane-tormenter, Marco Materazzi.

Mourinho turned Inter Milan into a winning machine, and led them to the Champions League title in 2010.

Their victory in the final over Bayern Munich would be Mourinho’s last game in charge of the Italians. After the game, he and Materazzi shared a tearful and touching farewell in the car park.

And a pair for whom it all went wrong...Gonzalo Jara & Edinson Cavani

We all know that relationships, now matter how thrilling at the start, can sometimes turn sour.

That was the fate of Chile’s Gonzalo Jara and Uruguay’s Edinson Cavani at the 2015 Copa America.

During their quarter-final clash, Jara - keen to unsettle the Uruguayan striker - poked a finger up Cavani’s back-side. Cavani retaliated with a dismissive swipe at Jara’s face, received a second yellow card and was sent off.

Chile would win 1-0, and went on the win the tournament. However, Jara’s invasive provocation was caught on camera and made the front pages, so he was banned for the rest of the competition. Gutted.
