Gossip Girl is 10 years old, which makes you fully ancient

As Gossip Girl turns 10, here's a roundup of other TV shows that will make you feel old. Very old.

If there’s anything worse than seeing your 30s on the horizon (after which comes old age and funeral plans) it’s celebrating the 10th birthday of one of your favourite programmes.

In the case of Gossip Girl, that day was 19 September.

Let that sink in a bit, like your anti-wrinkle cream.

Remember how youthful and carefree you were as you watched the opening salvos of Serena and Nathan’s relationship?

Look at how haggard you are now, how different life could have been (sorry, are we projecting our own emotions too much here? We just miss Chuck’s hair. A lot).

Gossip Girl isn’t the only TV throwback to make you feel so old you’ll be panic-scrolling through pension plans quicker than you can say ‘OAP'.

Enter Tracy Beaker.

Many of you have probably grown up with stories from the Dumping Ground social home and you might have seen lead actress Dani Harmer in 2012’s Strictly Come Dancing.

But how many of you are aware that Harmer first hit our screens as Tracy back at the start of 2002 as a fresh-faced but foul-mouthed 12 year-old? That's right, you first started watching Tracy Beaker 15 years ago. FIFTEEN YEARS AGO.

There’s also The Worst Witch.

Remember Mildred Hubble, Miss Cackle and Miss Hardbroom? The show will mark its 20th anniversary next year, with star Georgina Sherrington now a 32 year-old acting in films like Dark Ascension II: The Journey to Hell.

Just marvel over Miss Drill’s rave-era haircut and the mysterious studio lighting on the levitating Miss Hardbroom in this clip of the witches’ first flying lesson.

Then there’s the beloved Bernard’s Watch, the show that shaped children’s letters to Santa for the best part of a decade.

November will mark two decades since the series launched. And if you’re struggling to remember what that world looked like back when you were losing your milk teeth, check this out.

Zzzap! was the show that brought comic characters to life. It may feel like you last tuned in a few weeks ago, but you actually stopped watching it 16 years ago. Running from 1993 to 2001, it was so trippy that you were never really sure if the feeling in your stomach during the opening credits was excitement or terror…

Here’s the title sequence in all its glory, together with VHS fuzz lines.

Fun House, which ran throughout the 90s, actually began back in the previous decade – it was around at the same time as Thatcher, the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union.

Let’s enjoy the presenter, Pat Sharp, sporting a full-on 80s mullet in the opening sequence.

Finally, Chucklevision will next week celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Chuckle BrothersBBC

Chuckle Brothers Paul and Barry were probably at one time your adventurous, slapstick heroes, racing around on their chuckmobile.

Now they are 69 and 72 years old, respectively.

And you’re probably about halfway to that age yourself.

Have a great day!
